Ron Paul

It is amazing to listen to Ron Paul throughout the GOP debates. The surprising aspect, while watching these debates, the other candidates deride, cajole and ridicule each other but seldom do they have any negative rebuttals to what Ron Paul is espousing. While the other candidates argue among themselves, we get the impression why Ron Paul might be doing something right. So, we wisely decide to check where he stands on some of the issues on Wikipedia under Ron Paul. Let’s see what is on the record for some of his positions.

  • LOWER SPENDING AND SMALLER GOVERNMENT – RESTRICT GOVERNMENT SPENDING TO THE MINIMUM AND REDUCE THE SIZE OF THE GOVERNMENT.
  • LOWER TAXES – AFTER LOWER SPENDING AND SMALLER GOVERNMENT HE WOULD WORK TO POSSIBLY ELIMINATE FEDERAL INCOME TAX AND REPLACE IT WITH A NATIONAL SALES TAX IF FUNDS ARE NEEDED. HOPES TO GET RID OF THE IRS.
  • INFLATION AND THE FEDERAL RESERVE – OPPOSES GOVERNMENT CONTROL OF THE FED WHICH IN TURN IT THE CAUSE OF SEVERAL RECESSIONS.
  • NONVIOLENT TAX RESISTANCE – IF PROTESTERS BELIEVE A LAW IS UNJUST BUT THEY MUST BE PREPARED FOR THE CONSEQUENCES UNDER THE LAW.

Reading through the Wikipedia entry on Ron Paul, it depicts perfect common sense on all his positions whether or not you agree with any and/or all of them. It is bewildering that this cannot be said of all the other candidates. Can the other candidates show such a record of consistency? Whether Ron Paul wins the election or not, should we not look at his platform favorably? Are we doomed to the eternal bickering, back stabbing, bi-partisan and ego driven politicians we have known for over a generation or two? Or, are we ready to make a real change from the status quo to common sense government?

Thank you for your time.
